Can we talk graded finger control? How much effort

Can we talk graded finger control? How much effort is too much or too little?!

Opening a drawer of feathers is not the same effort as opening a drawer of rocks! Developmentally children can do the “all or nothing” however it’s the mid-range control of that effort is where the learning takes place. ie. giving the just right amount of effort/strength to complete a task!

Ways to work on graded control:

🌸Glueing tasks are a great way to teach young children this midrange control.

🌺Cutting thin paper.

🌸Peeling stickers.

🌺Stacking cubes.

🌸Household games like jenga, dominos, kerplunk, pickup sticks, don’t break the ice

🌺Asking them to complete balance tasks slowly (not to use momentum to compensate)

The only moment we have is NOW. We can’t wait for circumstances to be perfect in order to show up as the parent we want to be for our children. It’s not, when I have more time, when I won’t have to go to work, when I get all my errands done, when I’ll feel less stressed.....it’s NOW. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Be the parent you want to be to your child NOW...Our window of time with them is so short. The choices you make today in your NOW moments, becomes the parent you are in the future. All we have is Now 💕🙏🏼⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When interacting with your child, really be present. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Lately I have been so aware of the way life has gone back to all this busy-ness.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I realize how much I need to make the time in my day for stillness, to connect with myself so that I can be more present with all my interactions. I’m definitely a work in progress, but grateful for gentle reminders from people I love.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When we can be still, we can be more present. We can truly play and enjoy our children, be supportive during emotional outbursts and appreciate the small moments (that we may miss and not see when we are too busy to even notice) 💕

The key to conscious parenting includes self-parenting your inner child. I remember thinking when I first heard this concept...what does that even mean? Today, I can tell you that the key to true happiness is in the bonding and healing with our own inner child.💕 From there, all your relationships will transform! I have come to believe that our own children are our own inner child in physical form!
