GET SOCIAL

WHAT IT IS

Get Social is a therapist-led, small-group social skills program designed to help children build meaningful relationships, emotional awareness, and real-world confidence.

Each semester focuses on a specific social-emotional theme, allowing children to practice skills in real time with peers while receiving gentle, in-the-moment coaching from our Occupational Therapists.

While your child participates in group, parents are supported through guided sessions that help bridge what is practiced in class into everyday life at home.

This is not just a social skills class.

It is a whole-family support model designed to create lasting growth.

WHO IT'S FOR

Get Social is a great fit for children who:Β

  • Want to feel more confident joining and participating in groups
  • Are learning how to navigate friendships and peer dynamics
  • Need support with turn-taking, perspective taking, emotional expression, and problem-solving.
  • Benefit from guided practice handling conflict and repair
  • Are developing self-advocacy and flexible thinking
  • Thrive in small, structured environments with supportive adults

Level 1 (ages 5–7) focuses on foundational friendship skills and emotional literacy.

Level 2 (ages 8–12) builds leadership, resilience, self-advocacy, and social problem-solving.

A DAY IN OUR GROUP

Each session follows a consistent rhythm that helps children feel safe, engaged, and ready to participate.

  • Movement Warm-Up – Regulate the body and prepare for group time
  • Mini-Lesson – Introduce the weekly social skill or emotional theme
  • Collaborative Project – Practice teamwork through hands-on activities
  • High-Energy Game – Build cooperation and flexible thinking through play
  • Skill Activity – Reinforce the focus of the week in a collaborative activity
  • Active Practice – Guided peer interaction with therapist support
  • Closing Reflection – Review, reflect, and celebrate growth

OUR APPROACH

Real-Time Coaching: We guide children during natural social interactions, offering support as moments unfold so new skills feel authentic and usable.

Practice, Not Performance: Children are encouraged to try, repair, and try again in a safe space where mistakes are part of learning.

Emotional Literacy: We help children name their feelings, advocate for their needs, and build coping strategies they can use beyond the group.

Parent Partnership: Parents receive insight, language, and tools so growth continues outside of the classroom with our parenthood coach.

Small Groups, Intentional Structure: Groups are intentionally kept small so each child receives individualized support and meaningful peer interaction.
